The aerial photos for the assessment are complete and once the WSRCD receives them they will be made accessible to the public and will be included on CD with the final Bear Creek watershed assessment. Watershed Coordinator Report:

  • James Moller spoke of the different meetings and activities that he has been attending and doing this past month. James forgot one thing that might be of interest; and it is that he is on a committee for the Sacramento River Watershed Programs Public Outreach and Education Subcommittee. This committee is working on making a 30 second spot for local television that will inform the public about watersheds and how the public is directly involved with every thing that do.

Marketing the Watershed Group:

  • Now that the Bear Creek Watershed web page www.bearcreekwatershed.com is up and running we can start looking into making flyers to post in front of local businesses and stores through out the watershed. This way we can inform the community about the watershed and give them contact information incase they want to find out more. This will also be good advertising for our new web page.

New Business:

  • There is a possibility for applying for funding to assist in the construction and maintenance of the Bear Creek web site from the SRWP.
  • Bear Creek Watershed group Future plans are to look for funding for community mailings, flyers and community billboards.
  • Some future plans for the watershed group are to form a group of officers to conduct the meetings and run the watershed group.
  • Stan and James are going to compile a list of people that would need to get a mailer for the meeting announcement

Old Business:

  • The REDD survey went well there were 4 redd’s, 2 Salmon and 2 carcasses. Tricia Bratcher, Dave Dubose, Carl Weidert and Roland Weidenkeller and another gentlemen Kevin from the Fish and Wildlife service were the persons doing the redd survey. Thanks to Dave he made beans and corn bread for lunch.
  • We need to put the REDD survey on the agenda for every September meeting so that we can get planning and do the count at a reasonable time after the first significant rain and before the next.
  • The Irrigated Lands Waiver update was short our speaker Vieva Swearingen had to cancel do to her Knee surgery. She gave James some papers that told about were the waiver is now and how many acres are involved. This status report is also attached to the email.
