November 3, 2005 Meeting Minutes

Members in attendance:

James Moller called the meeting to order at 6:35 PM.

Review Last Months Minutes:

  • The October minutes looked good with no corrections at the meeting.

Project Coordinator Report:

O      Monday, November 28, 2005 will be the public review for the Bear Creek Watershed Assessment.  All comments will be collected and placed in the appendix of the document. A picture viewer will accompany the aerial photo CD so that landowners with a computer can access the data and view the photo.

    • A topographic map will be added to the assessment to better illustrate major reference points. 
    • The completed cover shows representative areas of the watershed.
    • Assessment copies have been placed throughout the watershed for public review.  If you would like a copy contact the Western Shasta RCD.

  • The WSRCD produced their October and November Watersheds and You newsletter. The newsletter can be viewed on the WSRCD web site (www.westernshastarcd.org) or by contacting the watershed coordinator.

Marketing the Watershed Group:

  • BCWG web page
    • The home page was developed by the Sacramento River Watershed Program webmaster. The BCWG plans on using the new updated web page. Foster Brovan will continue maintaining the site and uploading new material.
    • The access statistics for www.bearcreekwatershed.com will be updated for the next meeting. Web page updating has been on hold until last week.
  • Bear Creek Watershed Group apparel
    • Don’t forget to buy your Bear Creek Watershed T-shirts they will make great stocking stuffers for Christmas. They can be purchased by contacting James Moller at 530-365-7332 X209 or Marc Petty.  T-shirts will also be available at monthly meetings along with any upcoming events the BCWG attends. The t-shirts are available for $10 each or any donation larger then the specified amount.

New Business:

  • The Bear Creek Watershed Group draft organizational agreement was presented for group discussion.  Changes and additions will be incorporated and released for another comment period.
  • November 28th at 7pm is the Bear Creek Watershed Group community meeting. Come and state your opinions about the watershed assessment.
  • The redd survey on Bear Creek is planned for December 3rd.  If anyone is interested in participating contact James Moller.
  • World Water Monitoring Day is complete and Eda Eggeman will present the data at the December 1, 2005 watershed group meeting.  

Old Business:

  • Assessment review was completed at the October meeting.

Potential speakers:

  • Cal IPC (California Invasive Plants Council) speakers will be asked to speak at an upcoming meeting.
  • Mr. Dudley from DWR is slated to speak at the December meeting to discuss the current understanding of the ground water in the Bear Creek watershed.
  • The UC Cooperative Extension will be contacted to discuss their spring studies and fuel reduction in Bear Creek.
